My Dad knew how loved he was by his family and friends. He reminded us often of how lucky he was. His strong faith sustained him after our Mother''s death. He missed her every day but he knew he would be with her again. God bless them both. While our hearts are broken we take comfort in the fact that they are together.

To the Gaffney Family, I am saddened to hear of your Dad''s passing. For years he and your Mom would go to Gerard''s and always have something funny to say or tease me. I hope that your happy memories will help carry you through this sad time. Elayne

Dear Gaffney Family -
Joe will always rembered for humor, and the love he showed to all who knew him. I will always remember our MBTA rides on the #20 bus! He would have the entire bus in an uproar before it made it to Fields Corner. He would then continue antics on to the Red Line train, but always in a good way, he would have the entire train laughing and smiling before he disembarked. He started everyone''s day off with a smile and a laugh, even if they didn''t know him.
I think God needed someone in heaven to cheer everyone up, I think that job has been assigned to Joe.
Just one more thought, Joe you socks are still under my bed (joke between me and Joe, and maybe some other ladies out there!)
God bless you Joe, I am positive you are going right to heaven, no stops along the way, they can''t wait for you to get there to make everyone smile!

My deepest sympathy to all of Joes children and family. I grew up in the same house with your Father,it has been many years since I seen him. I was in Michaels craft store in Braintree when I heard a voice that I hadn''t heard in 52 years. We looked at each other and I said Joey Gaffney and he came back with Jeanie Stewart we had a great visit for about an hour in the middle of the store. He brought back a lot of wonderful memories. We were both shopping for St. Patricks decorations. I am so glad that I couldn''t find what I wanted in the Hanover store. He is With his Beloved now ,and you all are in my prayers.

Dear Kathy & Family,
Sincerest condolences to you and all the Gaffneys on your Dad’s passing. Always appreciated Joe’s optimism, humor and artistic talent. From Blackwell to Ashmont, from Boston to Maine, there was no one better at telling a story and sharing local lore than Joe.

To all of Joe''s family..... my brother and I just heard of your Dad''s passing this past week. We were so sorry that we missed the opportunity to attend Joe''s wake and funeral. Joe and my brother Bob were good friends and shared many funny stories of their childhood pranks. Bob had the pleasure of seeing Joe at Carney a few times over the past few months.
We also remember your grandmother, Mrs. Gaffney, who was a very close friend of our grandmother, who lived at 449, Mrs. Casey. I was much younger than Bob and Joe, but I have such vivid memories of the two of them together, especially at the 7:45 Sunday Mass at St. Ann''s. They would sit with their rosary beads out whispering to each other!
Please know that your Dad will always be fondly remembered and that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers.

To the Gaffney Family....Just heard of the news of your Dad's passing. I worked with your Dad in the Registry of Deeds. I have many happy memories of your Dad. Especially on the ride home from work every night. I was the driver and all we did was laugh all the way home. Joe had a very unique sense of humor. He made a dull boring day at work fun. I am very sorry for your loss. He is with his Beloved Kay now in heaven. Sincerely Eileen Mullin Vitale.
