I worked with Jen at the BTU School for 8 years and we always had a laugh when we were together! No matter what the conversation was about and at times not even if it was serious conversations we always ended laughing and it usually had to do with some sort of fart joke or nose picking joke. She knew how to make you laugh. I had the pleasure to have a conversation that morning and laught with for the last time, little did I know. But I know heaven will now have the laughs we will so much miss. To Ed and her beauties Caroline, Torrie and son who she was so proud of what he had accomplished until now; your wife and Mom loved you all very much and she always spoke about you all with such pride and I know you will all honor her with all she hoped you would be and become! May God bless you all and may He fill your hearts with comfort.

When employed at the BTU Pilot school in Jamaica Plain, I remember your laughter and your fighting spirit. You often turned my frown upside down by making me laugh. You are missed. My condolences to the family and her many many close friends.

To the Ferent, Rogers, and Cloherty families, there are no adequate words to express our sympathy for your loss.
Chris and I had the good fortune to get to know Jen, Ed, and the kids through our children via school.. The Ferents were Southie ex-pats living in Dorchester, like ourselves. We considered her a good family friend and admired her tremendously. She always came to every birthday party with a smile and a Beanie Boo. Our kids ADORED her.
Jen was first and foremost a loving mother and wife. She was a Good Person, decent, kind, and considerate. Jen was always fun to be around and had the ability to make an immediate impression on anyone she met. She had big, beautiful brains balanced with humor and a creative streak.
The last time we spoke we discussed how she was wrapping up her degree at UMass but still was able to take an elective, drawing, “just for fun.” She found her art class fun and relaxing, telling me it would help improve the doodles she made for her students in the reading room. That was the kind of fun teacher she was.
Jen was SO very proud of her beautiful children. I remember how happy she was to bring Cam on college visits and the excitement when he finally landed the perfect school, how dedicated she was taking Torrie to hockey. How she enforced positivity and confidence in both daughters and decency in her son. along with a love of reading and great work habits. All three children were brought up with beautiful manners but also with an appreciation to seek fun.
Her loss is a true loss for EVERYONE who was fortunate enough to have her in their lives.
Please know she was loved and admired by our family as well.
I miss you Jen 😢
With love, Erin Kelly and the Kelly 5

Jen was a colleague and friend of mine at the BTU School. Jen was a vibrant teacher, committed and caring to all of her students. As our school mourned and remembered her today, one student spoke about how Ms. Ferent helped him find a book, even though he really didn’t feel like reading. So what did Jen do? She got the student a book on farting. That was Jen, making every day fun for those around her.
She will be deeply missed, and never forgotten.
