The outpouring of sympathy and love from hundreds and hundreds of people at the wake and funeral whose lives were touched by Joe over his short years was testimony to the gifts of love and empathy that Joe shared with all. The world was made better by Joe' s presence here and he will be sorely missed. His service to the Country in the Marines, his dedicated service to our City of Boston and most of all his devotion to Diane, his daughters and family are and were models for us all. We all know that Joe is back "on duty" in Heaven today.

To Diane and the Zinck family: I had the fantastic opportunity to see and work with Joe from a special perspective. Most people never knew about, “Rap with the top cop”. Mickey Roach, Joe and I, went into a number of BPS, schools and spoke to hundreds of students and addressed extremely troubling questions that these students had. It was impressive and exciting to watch and listen to the numbers of students of all nationalities who surrounded Joe and were listening to him in that “o” so calming demeanor as he answered every one of their questions. He influenced a lot of students in a positive way. He was quite a person and I was extremely proud to have known him.
