DRISCOLL, Dorris G. (Flaherty) of Braintree passed away on Tuesday December 29, 2020 at home. She was 99 years old and beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Born in Chelsea, October 18, 1921, to the late Mark Leo and Jennie Frances (Dorris) Flaherty, she was a 1940 graduate of Chelsea High School. Dorris served in the Women's Marine Corp during World War II where she was stationed at Henderson Hall in Arlington Virginia. Dorris raised her family in the St. Brendan's Parish of Dorchester from 1947 until 1971 where she started the girls softball league, was a den mother, a girl scout leader which she received a National Award for She also was a leader and member of the guild. She was a resident of Braintree Ma since 1971 where she worked as a Teachers aide until her retirement. She loved watching the Red Sox, game shows and enjoyed trying to pick the five finalist and winner of the Miss America and Miss Universe Pageants. Dorris was the devoted wife of the late Walter A. Driscoll Jr. with whom they shared 38 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Walter A. Driscoll III and his wife Joanne M. Muolo of Cambridge, Jane F. Hohmann and the late Lawrence F. Hohmann of Braintree and Helen Hynes and her partner Mike Kozma of Enfield CT. Cherished grandmother of Mary M. Bacon and her husband Dale Cameron, Walter a. Driscoll IV and his wife Mindy Eichler, Lori M. Hynes and her partner John M. Merritt, and Kevin P. Hynes and his wife Samantha. Great Grandmother of Kyle, Joni, Amber, Wally, Travis and Connor. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to Alzheimer's Research or the Women in the Military Museum in Arlington National Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
Visiting hours in the John J. O’Connor & Son Funeral Home, 740 Adams St. (near Gallivan Blvd.) DORCHESTER, Monday morning from 9:30-12 followed by a graveside funeral service in Holy Cross Cemetery, MALDEN.
