Obituary

BUSA – John L., age 96 of Bonita Springs, Florida formerly of Dorchester and Weymouth, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, March 9, 2023. United States Army veteran during World War II serving in the 83rd Infantry Division “Thunderbolts”.

Beloved husband of the late Jean (Pollis) Busa. Dear son of the late John and Susie (Sofia) Busa. Devoted father of Leonard J. Busa of Braintree, Mary Jean Tobin of Bonita Springs, FL, Luanne O’Connell of Framingham, Gerarda Martin and her husband David of Stoneham, Paul Busa and his wife Julie of Weymouth, Christine Griffin of Quincy, and the late Robert Busa of Rockland. Caring father-in-law of Sharon Busa of Rockland and the late Bill Tobin. Dear brother of Robert Busa and his wife Joan of Waltham, Marie Koke of Pennsylvania, the late Joseph Busa of Newton, Charles Busa of Braintree, Placido “Rudy” Busa of Waltham and Daniel Busa of Belmont. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer Amador and her husband Jay of California, Thomas O’Connell and his wife Cristin of Milton, Tom Tobin and his wife Jamie of Florida, Julianna Busa of Weymouth, Thomas B. Griffin of Milton, Emily Martin and Abigail Martin both of Stoneham. Also survived by 10 adoring great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family.

After his enlistment with the United States Army, John reenlisted with the United States Navy serving again in another conflict this time Korea. After his military years, John worked for the MBTA as a collector until his retirement.

Throughout life John had several passions, from woodworking for his grandchildren to his enjoyment of building Legos known to many as “Master of Legos”. You could find John riding around in his red golf cart, stopping for a game of Bocce or playing a hand of Gin-Rummy with Gene. John lived his life to the fullest and right to the end.

Funeral service will be held Monday, March 20th at the John J. O'Connor & Son Funeral Home, 740 Adams St., (near Gallivan Blvd.) DORCHESTER at 11:30 AM. Interment in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, March 20th from 10:30 – 11:30 AM prior to the funeral service.                      

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of John may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
