SPACCO, Paul J. ret. B.F.D. Engine 17, of Dorchester passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 20, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Mary B. (Donovan) Spacco. Loving father of Paul Spacco of CA, Dianna Spacco of Pembroke, Patricia Spacco of Quincy, Susan Spacco Sheinkopf of Newton, and Elizabeth Spacco Pearlstein of Dorchester. Cherished grandfather of 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Caring brother of 7 loving siblings. Paul was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War.
If you new Paul Spacco well enough, you knew the historic house on Mill Street was the center of his life, where he lived as a teen then later raised his family. He kept the large vegetable garden in the back growing every summer as a labor of love tradition that his father started. Next to the garden is the barn full of his and his brothers’ tools used in their home improvement business which was his second job as a skilled painter and wallpaper hanger. He was a firefighter first, a job he loved and made many close friends performing. One of his many talents was cooking and he was the cook at the firehouse when he was on duty. Another was his musical ability, from singing to playing a few instruments, one of which was the accordian. He would entertain his kids with lots of silly songs and some old standbys. “Paulie” never strayed far from home, and he and Mary made that house a warm, welcoming place to all.
